Alex + Matt! A Hummingbird House wedding

Alex and Matt had their wedding on April 7, 2012 at The Hummingbird House in Austin, TX. I’ve had a great time working with Alex and Matt, first for their engagement session, and now their gorgeous wedding! I absolutely loved all of the little hand-made touches, the classic rustic flower arrangements by Central Market, and the grey and yellow color profile. That’s so in right now! And instead of cake, their family made mason jars with pie in them. So good! I always love shooting at The Hummingbird House – Danny and Lauren and the rest of the staff are the best! Stacey + Paul! The Woodlands United Methodist Church Ceremony and Augusta Pines Reception

Stacey’s Bridals – Bridal Portraits at The Neill-Cochran House

Allie + Chris = Engaged! A Garden Party Proposal

I was so excited when I got the call from CLINK that they were putting on a surprise marriage proposal and celebration for Allie and Chris. I was even more excited when I found out all of the details, that Chris had planned to have all of their immediate family there to surprise Allie. He had set it all up that the couple was going to have a picnic at San Michele. He brilliantly sold it to her that I was there because I was getting my lighting prepped for the next day’s wedding. He had her turned with her back to the venue, and their family members slowly walked up behind them. She turned around, and a flood of emotion hit everyone! Nicely done, Chris! After nerves gave way to confidence, he dropped to one knee and popped the big question. And she said YES! The rest of the afternoon was a fun celebration, with tons of laughter and ear-to-ear smiles. Congratulations!!

Cardo’s Senior Portraits

This is Cardo’s senior portrait session. You may remember Liz and Josh’s engagement session. Well Cardo is Liz’s younger brother, and he’s a member of Troy High School’s Class of 2012! I had a seriously fun time working with him. For his session, we did a little bit of shooting in Temple, before finishing the session at his parents’ farm house. He’s a super talented kid (um yeah…see that red tractor? He restored it. AMAZING!). He’s off to be a fightin’ Texas Aggie in the fall. Congrats!!

In conjunction with the presentation of a statue honoring Heisman Trophy running back Ricky Williams, the Ricky Williams Foundation put on a charity dinner/celebrity-style roast of the great running back. I donated my services and all of the photos on the evening for the cause. I was honored to be asked, and huge thanks to Cassie Springer-Sullivan of Springer-Sullivan & Roberts LLP for putting on and coordinating the event. It was so awesome to meet Ricky and his mom, as well as Mack Brown in person, and rub a few elbows with some other Texas greats, as well as a celeb that you just might recognize!

Elaine + Mike = Engaged! An Austin engagement session

I met Elaine a few years ago, while she was working for Wild Bunches Floral. We had bumped into each other at a few open houses over that time. Well fast forward to now, when I received the email from her that she was getting married and that she wanted me to be the photographer for her wedding, I was so excited! For their engagement session, we wanted to incorporate things that were special to them. So, we started with a little bit of tennis. And as a nod to to all of our personalities, the pictures came out fun and a little silly! We then headed over to South Congress, swung by Homeslice, and finished up at the Long Center with their pups. I had so much fun hanging out with them during their session, and their wedding promises to be a crazy fun party!

Sarah + Russ! An East Austin portrait session

So, I’ve known Russell for several years now. He and I used to work at the same photography studio here in Austin, way back in the early early days of my photography career. Wow! It seems like an eternity ago. And after we both left, he married his cutie girlfriend Sarah, but they never had a formal wedding ceremony or reception. And since he’s always behind the camera, they never really had any pictures taken together, either. I was honored that they would ask me to capture their sweet and goofy and slightly geeky love for each other. In case you were wondering, their matching shirts are the Legend of Zelda Triforce crests.

Wow! 2011 was a really amazing year! I had some seriously fun shoots, and worked with some absolutely wonderful couples. I am still so pleased by the fact that I have such a fun job, and I am in love with what I do. I sincerely hope that it comes through in each and every photograph that I capture. Like last year, it was really difficult to narrow down to the best of the best, because every shoot and every wedding holds so many ‘favorites’ that I include on my blog. So, if you will bear with me, I narrowed it down to around 100 photos again this year, to highlight my 2011. I continue to be grateful for all of the relationships I’ve developed, the people I’ve had the opportunity to work with, and all of the incredibly magical moments that I’ve witnessed. Thank you all for your unfailing support! Here’s to an even better 2012! Peace and love.

What a fun way to have a trial run with your hair, makeup, flowers, and gorgeous dress. Not every bride decides to have a bridal session, but for those that do, this part’s for you.

I love details! The flowers, the dress, those sexy shoes, and things that sparkle! Yes, please!

The Bride Getting Ready

This is one of my favorite parts of the wedding day. There is so much excitement and nervous energy in the bridal room. Tears flow, laughter erupts, champagne corks pop.

The Groom Getting Ready

Never to be overlooked, the wedding day is as much about the groom as it is the bride. But I can’t tell everything that goes on in the groom’s room. I’ve taken an oath. If I did tell you, I’d have to kill you.

Ceremony

Well, it’s all built up to this moment. The vows, the exchanging of the rings, the symbolism of two becoming one.

Portraiture

I do! Now let’s take some romantic, lovey, sweet, intimate, and romantic photos. Yes, I said romantic twice! I think you get the idea.

The Bridal Party

No wedding is a party unless there is an awesome group of friends to help you celebrate. It’s about having a blast, letting loose, and being there for the bride and groom on their big day.

Ashley + James = Engaged! A vintage Austin engagement session

Ashley and James are having their wedding this August in HAWAII!! I am so thrilled that they asked me to come along to capture what will be a sublimely romantic and sweet day! They had originally planned a San Antonio wedding, but decided to scrap those plans and opt for a destination wedding that was more their style. When they originally booked me for their stateside wedding, they were scared that I wouldn’t be up for Hawaii. AS IF! For their engagement session, they wanted to do something else that spoke to their style: a vintage-themed engagement! We hopped from spot to spot and incorporated some of the local favorites and even happened upon a classic pink car (some of you gear-heads might be able to tell me what make and model that is). Working with them for their engagement session has me seriously excited for their Hawaii destination wedding, and I cannot wait!

Vanessa + Chris! A St. Edward’s University Church wedding and Austin Club Reception

Vanessa and Chris tied the knot on December 10, 2011! Theirs was a beautiful Christmas-themed wedding, and it was a wonderful way to cap off a very successful 2011 year! They had their ceremony at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at St. Edwards University and their reception was held at The Austin Club in downtown Austin, TX. I had been excited for this wedding ever since they booked me. And it was so nice working with such a fun and kind-hearted couple. Vanessa’s bridals were some of my favorite of the year, and their wedding kept that momentum going! She smartly incorporated the theme of Christmas into her wedding tastefully, but without hesitation. I loved all of her use of the red and white throughout the wedding, from the shoes, to her beautiful anemone bouquet. We even took advantage of the red door at St. Edwards! Katie and George had their beautiful wedding at the Hummingbird House in Austin, TX on November 19, 2011. This was one of my favorite weddings of the year! Katie and George were so easy to work with, and all of their friends and family were so much fun! The Hummingbird House is a fantastic wedding venue, and Lauren was a pleasure to work with there. I loved all of the soft natural colors and muted elegant tones that Katie designed her wedding with. Fabian Salcedo from The Flower Studio did an amazing job with the arrangements. And the cake by Simon Lee was delicious! And whoa, what a party! Dysfunkshun Junkshun kept the dance floor loud and packed! They are so awesome!
