Wow! 2011 was a really amazing year! I had some seriously fun shoots, and worked with some absolutely wonderful couples. I am still so pleased by the fact that I have such a fun job, and I am in love with what I do. I sincerely hope that it comes through in each and every photograph that I capture. Like last year, it was really difficult to narrow down to the best of the best, because every shoot and every wedding holds so many ‘favorites’ that I include on my blog. So, if you will bear with me, I narrowed it down to around 100 photos again this year, to highlight my 2011. I continue to be grateful for all of the relationships I’ve developed, the people I’ve had the opportunity to work with, and all of the incredibly magical moments that I’ve witnessed. Thank you all for your unfailing support! Here’s to an even better 2012! Peace and love.

Engagements

It’s all about you, your love, and it’s about me getting to know you too! Here are my favorite engagement photos from 2011. From simply sweet, to tastefully stylized, engagement photos should be an expression of your personality.

Bridals

What a fun way to have a trial run with your hair, makeup, flowers, and gorgeous dress. Not every bride decides to have a bridal session, but for those that do, this part’s for you.

Details

I love details! The flowers, the dress, those sexy shoes, and things that sparkle! Yes, please!

The Bride Getting Ready

This is one of my favorite parts of the wedding day. There is so much excitement and nervous energy in the bridal room. Tears flow, laughter erupts, champagne corks pop.

The Groom Getting Ready

Never to be overlooked, the wedding day is as much about the groom as it is the bride. But I can’t tell everything that goes on in the groom’s room. I’ve taken an oath. If I did tell you, I’d have to kill you.

Ceremony

Well, it’s all built up to this moment. The vows, the exchanging of the rings, the symbolism of two becoming one.

Portraiture

I do! Now let’s take some romantic, lovey, sweet, intimate, and romantic photos. Yes, I said romantic twice! I think you get the idea.

The Bridal Party

No wedding is a party unless there is an awesome group of friends to help you celebrate. It’s about having a blast, letting loose, and being there for the bride and groom on their big day.

The Cakes

I haven’t met a cake that I haven’t liked. Or cupcake. or donut. Mmmm….cake.

The First Dance

Here’s your moment. All eyes are on you. Are you going to do it up ballroom style? Classic arm in arm? Or perhaps something choreographed?

Party Time!

The party is jumping, the music is thumping, the drinks are flowing, and people are…jumping in the pool??? Oh heck! Let’s party!!!!

Ashley + James = Engaged! A vintage Austin engagement session

Ashley and James are having their wedding this August in HAWAII!! I am so thrilled that they asked me to come along to capture what will be a sublimely romantic and sweet day! They had originally planned a San Antonio wedding, but decided to scrap those plans and opt for a destination wedding that was more their style. When they originally booked me for their stateside wedding, they were scared that I wouldn’t be up for Hawaii. AS IF! For their engagement session, they wanted to do something else that spoke to their style: a vintage-themed engagement! We hopped from spot to spot and incorporated some of the local favorites and even happened upon a classic pink car (some of you gear-heads might be able to tell me what make and model that is). Working with them for their engagement session has me seriously excited for their Hawaii destination wedding, and I cannot wait!

Clare + Aaron = Engaged! A Old Settlers Park Engagement Session

Clare and Aaron are tying the knot next month at the Witte Museum in San Antonio! I had such a fun time getting to know them at their engagement session, and I’m so excited for their wedding next month! For their engagement session, Clare wanted a very rustic quintessential Texas kind of feel, so we went to Old Settlers Park up in Round Rock, TX.

Roxanne + Keith = Engaged!

Roxanne and Keith are getting married next March. While I’m bummed that I won’t get to photograph their wedding, I was pleased to be able to shoot their engagement session, hang out with them, and have a lot of laughs! There were a lot of funny moments, and I think I was able to really capture their personalities throughout the shoot.

Jessica and Matt are tying the knot exactly 1 month from tomorrow!I was absolutely thrilled when they chose me to be their wedding photographer! Katie and George are getting married at the Hummingbird House here in Austin, TX, and I’m thrilled to be their wedding photographer! For their engagement session, I met them at Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth. From there, we went to the nearby Botanical Garden at wrapped the day up there. Even though it was really windy, and the threat of rain loomed, we still managed to get some great shots. Here are some of my faves!

While I’m a little bummed that I’m not going to be there for their wedding, I had such a great time working with them during this awesome engagement session. We hit up a few favorite spots around the city, and capped it all off with some romance on the train tracks. I hope you love these images as much as I do!

Alison + Shawn = Engaged! A proposal turned engagement session!

Alison and Shawn got engaged on April 23, 2011, and I was there to witness it! This marks something completely different for me, where a client asked me to document his proposal. Shawn set the whole day up as a birthday present for his girlfriend, Alison. They were going to meet me at the Wild Seed Farm in Fredericksburg, and we were just going to take some portrait shots in and among the flowers. Once we got to the field of poppy flowers, he dropped to one knee and popped the question! I have to admit, I got a little misty-eyed! We then spent the rest of the day shooting, wine tasting, and sharing lots of laughs. They’re a super fun couple, and I am so excited for them both!! Congrats!!

Stephanie + David = Engaged!

Stephanie and David are getting married in just a few weeks at Granberry Hills in San Antonio. For their engagement session, I met them where they live and go to school in San Marcos, Texas. I had a great time shooting there because I just love shooting at new locations. It’s like being a kid in a candy store. I also got to experiment a little more with my new tilt-shift lens! Stephanie and David are such a fun couple, a little bit goofy, and a whole lot of sweet. I can’t wait for their wedding!!

Rachel + Mike = Engaged!

Rachel and Mike are tying the knot in October, in Houston, Texas! I’ve known Rachel for years through friends, and when I got the call from her that she wanted me to be her wedding photographer, I was thrilled! For Rachel and Mike’s engagement session, we started at The University of Texas, and then made our way down to Auditorium Shores for some sweet photos in the dwindling sun. I had a fantastic time working with them, and I can’t wait for their wedding!

Gladys + Pooya = Engaged!

For their engagement session, we went to all the spots that are sentimental to them, and in doing that, I had a great time getting to know them better! Alex + Matt = Engaged!

Alex and Matt are tying the knot next year. It seems so far away for us to wait! Since they, as well as all of their family and friends, are traveling far and away to Austin for their wedding, we opted to start the shoot at the familiar “Greetings from Austin” sign. I wanted to do something just a little different than the norm, so I tried out my brand new 45mm Tilt Shift lens (thanks for the inspiration, Stacy!). I love love this lens. So fun! We then headed over to to some train tracks, and then finished up at a beautiful field for a springtime picnic. These are some of my favorite images, especially with the Tilt Shift effect. Love! Congrats Alex and Matt!

Katelyn + Justin = Engaged!

Katelyn and Justin are tying the knot in just a few months, and I’m really excited to be their wedding photographer! For this engagement session, we walked all around The University of Texas at Austin campus, finding spots here and there to shoot. We even went to the spot where Justin proposed to Katelyn. After campus, we then went to the “Greetings from Austin” sign, and finished at Auditorium Shores. I had a great time getting to know these two, and I’m looking forward to their wedding! Congrats!!

Rachael + Dan = Engaged!

It’s Valentine’s Day! What better way to celebrate the day than with an engagement session featuring two love-birds! Rachael and Dan are having their wedding in April of this year. For this session, I found some new spots on the “East Side.” Some places I had never seen before. But we just wandered around for about two hours, looking for fun little spots with lots of character. Rachael and Dan were such a fun and totally relaxed couple to work with, and I’m really looking forward to their wedding!

Alexis and Chris are having their wedding later this year at Chateau Bellevue. I’m pretty stoked to be shooting there, too! For their e-session, we started on South Congress, and made our way to this really cool wall that looks like a TV test screen. We had some fun with that, and then headed over to Town Lake and finished at the Texas State Capitol. Thankfully, the renovations had just finished that week! I had a lot of fun working with them, and I’m really excited for their wedding! Enjoy!

Andrea + Shawn = Engaged!

Andrea and Shawn are getting married later this year. We shot this engagement session back in December, and I’m happy to be posting it now! We started our shoot at the campus of The University of Texas. It ended up being so windy, that we had to call it and resume another day. For the second shoot, we strolled around the area near Austin Music Hall, and then over to Town Lake. I had a great time working with Andrea and Shawn, and I’m really looking forward to their wedding! Congrats on your engagement!!
